Special Speaker Cheryl L. Morgan, Author of Ottissippi – The Truth about Great Lakes Indian History and the Gateway to the West

Date: Thursday, April 5, 2018 Time: 6:30pm - 8:00pm Location: Lambton County Archives, 787 Broadway Street, Wyoming Map

We will be hosting author Cheryl L. Morgan, who recently published the book Ottissippi – The Truth about Great Lakes Indian History and the Gateway to the West. Cheryl’s talk will focus on her recent publication and how local Indigenous groups are part of that narrative.

Following Cheryl’s presentation and an opportunity to ask questions, visitors will be invited to explore some of the resources in the Lambton County Archives that tell the stories of local Indigenous groups.

Cheryl provided the following notes about her presentation and her published work: “After digging for three months I realized the Native History of Southeast Michigan had not been written. It was buried, erased, forgotten, scattered, inaccessible, lost to time and change. I determined to find and share the Truth. The very difficult complex history, the great black hole, the huge mess no one talked about is now recorded. The groundbreaking research clarifies the sweeping history of the Northwest and Great Lakes Indigenous history.”
