This Historic Recipe, Pepper Relish by Marion Alice Neville of the Shetland Women's Institute, comes to us from the "Lambton County Cook Book 1849-1999 - 150th".

Marion Alice Lidster was born in 1928 in Dawn Twp., Lambton County, Ontario to Dean and Alice (Liddle) Lidster. She had two siblings Lillian and Robert.

In 1948, Marion married John Henry Neville who was born in 1910 to parents Thomas and Elizabeth (Beck) Neville in Staffordshire, England.

Together, they had three children – two daughters and one son.

They farmed many years in Dawn Twp. until in 1968 when they purchased a farm previously known as Wilbert Judson Moorhouse at Lot 25, Con. 2 – near Shetland.

Marion was a dedicated member of the Shetland United Church and a member of the Shetland Women’s Institute. The Federated Women’s Institutes of Ontario awarded Marion a Centennial Award in 1997 to recognize her talents, service and volunteer work.

Marion was known for her wonderful baked goods which she generously shared with both family and friends.

Marion passed away on February 20, 2022, at Meadowview Villa in Petrolia.
