Online Collection

Explore our current online collection

The Lambton County Museums online catalogue can be found on our old or current online collection database. This online catalogue includes thousands of photographs, books, textiles, archival documents, and historic artifacts.

Keep in mind that there are items in our current online collection database that have not been digitized and can only be viewed through an in-person appointment. We are always growing and updating this digital collection, so check back regularly.

Lambton Heritage Museum Collection

The museum collection is home to more than 25,000 artifacts and 10,000 photographs depicting the history of Lambton County. Each of the County's eleven municipalities are represented.

Some of our collection highlights include:
  • The only horse-drawn ambulance in Ontario, manufactured in Petrolia in 1908
  • Canada's largest collection of pressed glass water pitchers
  • Beautiful antique stoves produced by the Doherty Manufacturing Company of Sarnia
  • Extensive collections of farm implements

Records, images, and materials held by Lambton Heritage Museum are historical and contain language or depictions of people and places that are representative of their time. This may include problematic wording, cultural references, and stereotypes that may be harmful to racialized and marginalized populations. Maintaining these original records and making them available to students, researchers, and the public assist in understanding the historic and continued burden marginalized communities may face.

If you encounter records with harmful language or inaccurate statements in our catalogue or collections, please notify our staff team at heritage.museum@county-lambton.on.ca.  We appreciate your feedback as we are actively reviewing and enhancing our records.
