(Lambton County Archives, Sarnia Observer Negative Collection)"), link.Eleanor Nielsen devoted her life to the history of Lambton County.

As a local and family historian, Eleanor published many books on our community, including The Egremont Road: Historic Route from Lobo to Lake Huron. Eleanor was known for travelling great distances to conduct her research at libraries and archives, and bringing back her findings and sharing her knowledge with local researchers at the Lambton County Archives.

Eleanor was involved with local historical organizations, such as the Lambton County Branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society, Forest Museum, Egremont Road Heritage Committee, and Lambton County Historical Society. In 1911, Eleanor received the Ontario Volunteer Service Award in recognition of her 15 years dedication to the OGS.

Eleanor's collection of reference books, family histories, research notes, and manuscripts were donated to the Lambton County Archives after her death. Eleanor wanted her research and knowledge to be made available for generations to come, in order to help others with their own family histories.
