Looking for a great way to keep the family busy this holiday season? Try these great crafts courtesy of the staff at Lambton Heritage Museum.

Improvise using the materials you have on hand or stop by Lambton Heritage Museum between November 25 and December 19 to receive a Holiday Craft Supply Kit (free with the price of admission). Each kit contains the materials needed to make three different crafts.

Victorian Holidays

Many holiday traditions originated over 150 years ago during the reign of Queen Victoria. In 1847 a British candy maker had the bright idea of using a small explosion to make his candies pop. His firecracker sweets were an immediate hit. Follow the step-by-step instructions to make your own Christmas cracker.

The Christmas tree (Tannenbaum) is a beautiful symbol of the holiday season. The earliest Christmas trees were small and plain. In the mid-1800s most decorations were homemade. Nowadays, almost anything goes. Follow the step-by-step instructions to make your own mini-Christmas tree.

People around the world ring in the New Year in different ways. Chinese New Year is celebrated by millions of people and the festivities last for weeks.
