This is a cast of an ammonite
This specimen was found somewhere in Newfoundland.
Ammonites are marine creatures that lived 320-70 million years ago.
They are related modern day squids. They lived in their shells and they had tentacles. They deterred predation by squirting ink.
This specimen was donated by Western University.
