This is a carbon films fossil. 

This specimen is from Penticton, British Columbia. 

This specimen represents the carbon film of plant leaves which were left in the shale stone.  

You can see the tiny leaves of the fern like plant. This is a type of Metasequoia occidentalis. This plant was around at the same time as the dinosaurs.  

The fossilized specimen is believed to be 94 million years old. 

The specimen was donated to the Oil Museum of Canada by Western University.
