Hardness: 4 

Streak: White 

Luster: Glassy 

Magnetic: No 

Conductive: No 

Cleavage: Our directions of perfect cleavage 

Relative Density: 3.2 

Distinguishing Characteristics:  It will produce a blue glow under black light. Its hardness and colour banding are identifiable characteristics. It often cleaves into a perfect octahedron.  

Uses: Fluorite is often ground and put into tooth pastes and drinking water. It is often used in ceramics as a non-stick coating such as Teflon and other shiny surfaces. It can also be ground and melted to make high quality glass.
