Colour: Yellow 

Hardness:  1.5 -2.5 

Streak: Yellow 

Luster: Crystals are resinous to greasy. Powdered sulphur is dull to earthy. 

Magnetic: No 

Conductive: No 

Cleavage: None 

Relative Density: 2.0 

Distinguishing Characteristics: Sulfur smells like rotten eggs and it is also highly flammable producing a blue flame. It also has a low melting point.  

Uses: 90% of sulfur is used to make sulfuric acid. Sulfuric acid is used to make car batteries, detergents, a catalyst in chemical production, paints etc. Much of the sulfur produced in Canada is a by-product of petroleum refining and is used by the chemical and manufacturing industry. Sulfur is a native element and found everywhere. Your body produces sulfur too!
