This week’s recipe comes from “Mom’s Favourites” – Shiloh UCW (date unknown)
The inside of this cookbook reads “At our “Mother’s Day” meeting in May, the Roll Call was “Bring a favourite recipe of your mother’s”. This cookbook is the end result of that particular meeting.”

Annie May Johnston was born on January 5, 1895 in Enniskillen Township. She was the daughter of William and Mary (McCallum) Johnston. On June 21, 1922 she married John Robert Simpson. John Simpson passed away in 1955 and Annie passed away in April 1976 – they are buried in the Wyoming Cemetery.

Annie and John’s children were Murray Simpson, Mrs. Wilbert (Marion) Knight, Mrs. Jim (Verna) Johnson and Donna (William) Dobbin

Many who grew up in Enniskillen Township will remember Donna Dobbin as a beloved elementary school music teacher. For many decades she was the Choir Director and Organist at First Baptist Church in Petrolia and was also a member of Shiloh United Church. She played for many a bride as they took the walk down the isle and she brought some comfort to families as they said their goodbyes to loved ones.

In 1956 Donna married William (Bill) Dobbin and they had four children and several grandchildren. Donna passed away on May 7, 2004 and her husband Bill on January 18, 2020. They are both buried in Hillsdale Cemetery.
