This Historic Recipe of Spaghetti and Meat Patties by the Diodati family comes to us from “Cook Book” – Compiled and Published by the C.E.E. Hospital Guild, Petrolia, Ontario – 1953.

Linda Salvatore and Anthony Diodati were both born in Mignano Monte Lungo, Provincia di Caserta, Campania, Italy. Linda was born on December 14, 1904 and Anthony on October 5, 1896. They wed and moved to Canada, initially settling in Brantford, Ontario. On February 4, 1926 their son Ernest John Diodati was born and in about April of 1931 their daughter was born – both in Brantford, Ontario.

In about 1939 the Diodati family moved from Brantford, Ontario to Petrolia, Ontario as Anthony was transferred for work and became the Section Foreman of the CNR.

Sadly, on November 1, 1949 their only son Ernest passed away while studying Law at Osgoode Hall in Toronto, leaving his family and the Petrolia community in a state of shock.

On December 27, 1958 their daughter married in Petrolia and made her home in Ohio, U.S.A. where they had a family of four children.

On Monday, January 17, 1993 at CEE Hospital Petrolia, Anthony Diodati passed away at the age of 86. Linda Salvatore passed away on March 9, 1993 at Dundas, Hamilton Municipality, Ontario at the age of 88.

Anthony and Linda were laid to rest beside their son Ernest John Diodati at Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Brantford, Ontario.
