Black Gold Fest cancelled due to air quality concerns
Oil Springs, ON – The Oil Museum of Canada, National Historic Site, has made the decision to cancel this year’s Black Gold Fest, scheduled for Saturday, July 18, 2026, due to poor air quality conditions and in consideration of the health and well-being of visitors, volunteers, vendors, demonstrators, performers, and staff.
The decision was made in alignment with current guidance from Lambton Public Health and recommendations regarding outdoor activities during periods of poor air quality.
“The safety of our patrons, community partners, volunteers, and staff is our top priority,” said Andrew Meyer, General Manager of Cultural Services with the County of Lambton. “While we are disappointed to cancel this year’s event, we believe this is the responsible course of action based on current air quality conditions and public health recommendations and we look forward to welcoming everyone back next year.”
Black Gold Fest was set to feature live music, heritage demonstrations, children’s activities, food and beverage vendors, and opportunities to celebrate Lambton County’s rich oil heritage.
The Oil Museum of Canada appreciates the community’s enthusiasm for Black Gold Fest and looks forward to welcoming visitors to future events and programs.
