Oil Springs, ON – Discover the fascinating world of electricity through hands-on activities at the Oil Museum of Canada, National Historic Site, during the PA Day event Watts of Fun on Friday, January 31, 2025.

Between 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., visitors can participate in activities and demonstrations on a drop-in basis to explore how electrons dance between atoms to power our world. Activities include creating static electricity with balloons to make a Static Electricity Butterfly dance, making a battery from a potato, and solving an energy distribution maze. Visitors can also try cranking a real generator to produce electricity.

“The Oil Museum of Canada is a great place to learn the science behind technologies we use every day,” said Christina Sydorko, Educational Program Coordinator with the Oil Museum of Canada. “While our exhibits highlight oil history and the role of hydrocarbons and combustion in powering the world, Watts of Fun lets visitors dive into the science of electricity. It’s a hands-on way to see how it works and ties into the energy stories that shape our daily lives.”

Admission is $5 for adults, $4 for seniors (65+) and students, $3 for children, and children aged three and under are free. For more information, visit the event page on the Museum’s website.
