Wyoming, ON – Lambton Heritage Museum, Lambton County Archives, the Oil Museum of Canada, and the Judith & Norman Alix Art Gallery will be re-opening to the public on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 with limited capacity. The hours of operation for each site will be Wednesdays from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Thursdays from 11:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., and Fridays & Saturdays from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

This re-opening marks the first time the Oil Museum of Canada will be welcoming visitors since undergoing an extensive renovation. In addition to improvements to the overall facility and its accessibility, the Museum is introducing new exhibits, interactive learning experiences, and improved visitor amenities, interpretation and signage.

“The Oil Museum was first opened in 1960 and had its last major renovation 30 years ago,” said Laurie Webb, Manager, Museums, Gallery and Archives. “This project has not only allowed us to bring the physical building and its systems up to modern standards, but has given us the opportunity to completely redesign the permanent exhibition. Visitors will see the significant history of the area presented in new and engaging ways, creating a memorable experience for all visitors.”

The Oil Museum of Canada is planning a grand reopening celebration for later this year, in addition to welcoming back Black Gold Fest in the summer of 2022.

In advance of re-opening to the public, the museums, Gallery, and Archives ask patrons to pre-book their visit online and to familiarize themselves with all guidelines to ensure cultural facilities remain a safe place for all visitors and staff. The full list of guidelines for each location are available on the Judith & Norman Alix Art Gallery website, Lambton Heritage Museum website, Oil Museum of Canada website and the Lambton County Archives website.
