Lambton Heritage Museum offers presentation on Ontario turtle species on August 20
Grand Bend, ON – Lambton Heritage Museum presents Turtles of Ontario: Shell-ebrating Our Native Species on Thursday, August 20 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The talk is the second installment of a Speaker Series complementing the themes explored in the museum’s feature exhibition Bluewaterland: Dive Into the Depths.
Attendees will discover Ontario’s native turtle species, their ecological role, and the risks they are facing from presenter Cassie Greidanus with the Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority. In addition to an insightful presentation on the ecology of turtles, attendees will have the opportunity to touch and explore shells, models, and more.
The presentation is in-person at the museum and spots are limited. Interested participants can secure their seat by registering on the event webpage. Regular museum admission applies.
Bluewaterland: Dive Into the Depths explores the relationship between the waters of Lake Huron and the St. Clair River and Lambton County. Displays include notable Lake Huron shipwrecks, early nautical navigation techniques, and water-related recreational pastimes like swimming, fishing and surfing. The exhibition is available with regular museum admission until October 18, 2026.
Two more Speakers Series presentations are planned for Thursday evenings in the fall, including:
• September 17 – Rum Running on Great Lakes Waters with Cris Kohl and Joan Forsberg
• October 8 – When Death Stalked Lake Huron: The Great Storm of 1913 with Bruce Kemp
