PA Day event at Lambton Heritage Museum: Conservation connections and nature fun

Grand Bend, ON - Lambton Heritage Museum is offering a hands-on, engaging experience for local students on the upcoming PA Day, June 7, from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

The Conservation Connections and Nature Fun program is a partnership between St. Clair Region Conservation Authority, Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority and Lambton Heritage Museum. Conservation educators from both organizations will be onsite to lead a variety of activities for school-age children.

Activities include: touchable tables to feel turtle shells and mussels; a scavenger hunt; a "raccooning for mussels" activity to search for mussel shells in muddy water; and a chance to learn about microplastics with sieves and sand.

Drop in between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. to participate, no pre-registration is required.

The museum will be open until 5:00 p.m., so be sure to take some extra time to experience the new, interactive Canada's Waterscapes exhibit and browse through the historic outbuildings, including a nineteenth century blacksmith shop and slaughterhouse.

Regular museum admission rates apply for this special event. Admission is $5.00 for adults, $4.00 for seniors and students, and $3.00 for children. Children four and under are free.

Lambton Heritage Museum is entrusted with the care of over 25,000 historic artifacts, photographs and documents which preserve the history of Lambton County. Situated on a 30 acre parcel across from Pinery Provincial Park, the museum maintains five historic buildings, two display buildings and one main exhibition centre, as well as visitor amenities including the 1 km Woodland Heritage Trail. Over its 40 year history, Lambton Heritage Museum has evolved from a collection of collections, to a key repository, safe guard and educator of Lambton’s material heritage.
