Research Guides

Are you interested in genealogy or local history but don't know where to start? The Archives has created online Research Guides to help new genealogists and local historians.

Family Files

We have thousands of files organized by family surname in our collection. Files may contain family trees, family group sheets, letters, wills, and newspaper clippings.

Local Newspapers

We actively collect newspapers from our community. They are accessible on microfilm in our reading room and the most recent issues are in paper form in our storage vault.

Land Records

Land records document the owner of a particular piece of land and can be useful when tracking ancestors or understanding how a neighbourhood was formed.

Cemetery Records

We have cemetery transcriptions from cemeteries in Lambton, Kent, Middlesex, and Huron Counties.

Ancestry Library

Visitors can access this amazing online research tool within our facility. Thousands of databases from all over the world contain records to help you uncover your family tree.

Join us in celebrating the black gold rush that occurred in Oil Springs in the 1860s on Saturday, July 14, 2019 from 11:00 am - 4:00 pm at the Oil Museum of Canada - National Historic Site.

This session will assist with navigating the ONLAND website, a free resource that shares access to official property related information and documents. A Lambton County Archivist will instruct members how to connect property history with genealogy research. Pre-registration is required.
