We appreciate all donations, in any amount.

Your support enables us to offer engaging events and activities, preserve and build our collection, and deliver compelling programs that inform, inspire, encourage, and celebrate our local history.

How to make a donation

Make a donation online using your credit card (minimum $5.00). We can also process credit cards in person and over the phone by calling 519-834-2840. Cash or cheque donations can be made in person at the museum or mailed to:

Monetary donations of $20.00 and more are eligible for a tax receipt. If you donate by credit card, the receipt will be emailed to you; if you donate by cash or cheque, the museum will mail you a hard copy of your receipt.

Funds

Donations can be made to the museum reserve fund to support activities such as, artifact conservation, workshops, and building education programs. You can make a gift in memory of a loved one.

Donations can also be made to the following funds:

  • Robert Cochrane Memorial Fund
  • Oil Museum of Canada Foundation

Sponsor an education program

Sponsor one of our school programs to enable a local school to participate in a program that they might not normally be able to afford. Choose from our:

  • One time class field trip to the museum
  • In the classroom program for the year: Travelling Trunks

In-Person School Programs

Sponsorship includes:

  • Student admissions tickets
  • Bus to and from school
  • Exciting learning experience at the museum

Logistics:

  • Funds are sent to the Oil Museum of Canada
  • The museum contacts school board to choose a school
  • School chooses a date to participate in the program
  • School books bus and invoices the museum
  • School sends a note of recognition to the sponsor

Cost:

  • One class visit $400-600

Travelling Trunks

Sponsorship includes:

  • Travelling costs of getting kit to and from the classroom
  • Rental cost of the Travelling Trunk for 2 week booking
  • Educational programming with in-classroom experiments and lessons

Logistics:

  • Funds are sent to the Oil Museum of Canada
  • Kit is made free for the school year to any teacher interested in booking

Cost:

  • Travelling Trunk for the year $600

Planned giving

There are several ways you can include the museum in your planned giving intentions:

  • Make a gift in your will; this might include money, publicly traded stocks, or mutual funds
  • Name Oil Museum of Canada as a beneficiary in a retirement plan or life insurance policy

Leave a lasting and meaningful legacy by making a planned gift to the Oil Museum of Canada, National Historic Site. Your generosity allows future generations to enjoy and be inspired by our collection.

We are happy to discuss your estate plans. However, we encourage you to consult with your personal financial and legal advisors before including the museum in your will.
